Hello dear WOOFers! Olá and welcome!We are new farm owners, Daniel and Francoise, and have set up an off grid home in the Alentejo hills. We are both world travellers for many years and have created our little piece of paradise outside of Vila Vicosa.
I am a professional chef and my partner is a product designer.
There are sheep and our neighbors cows grazing on property. This season, we’ll be focusing on olive picking and pruning the orchard, an essential part of keeping the trees healthy and productive for years to come. It’s hands-on work that connects you directly to the land and its cycles — mornings in the groves, the smell of fresh leaves and earth, and the satisfaction of seeing baskets fill with olives that will soon become golden oil.
We are also looking for construction helpers for fixing fencing and gates and building tables. I have two young boys now ages 7 and 9 so families are also accepted. We have a spare bedroom and parking space for a camper van.
We’re so happy to have you join us here in the heart of Alentejo, a region known for its golden hills, ancient olive trees, and peaceful rhythm of life. Our farm is a place where nature, tradition, and community meet — a living project rooted in respect for the land and the people who care for it.
Our philosophy is simple: work with nature, not against it. We practice regenerative and sustainable methods, nurture biodiversity, and believe in the power of shared meals, stories, and laughter at the end of a good day’s work.
You’ll be part of a small international team of helpers, learning traditional techniques while also enjoying modern comforts — local food, fresh air, and the company of kind people. Whether you’re new to farming or already experienced, we hope your time here gives you space to learn, connect, and slow down.

For Olive picking season we need 4 hours of Olive picking to process for oil and help with compost, trimming trees, help in the citrus orchard. We try to suit work to volunteers' individual preferences and skills when possible—which is most of the time, though sometimes we need teamwork.
We eat 3 meals a day together, all provided from our local farm or neighbors. There is a double bedroom and space for a couple campers or vans.
Just a few minutes from the farm, Vila Viçosa is one of Alentejo’s most beautiful villages — known as the Princess of the Alentejo. Surrounded by marble quarries and rolling olive groves, it’s a town rich in history and quiet charm. You can stroll through cobbled streets, visit the Ducal Palace, enjoy a coffee in the central square, or explore nearby castles and vineyards. We are 7 minutes drive from Vila Vicosa town which has everything and will be soon a UNESCO site.
It’s the perfect place to experience local culture, try traditional Alentejano dishes, and enjoy the slower rhythm of life that defines this region. The sunsets here are breathtaking, the people warm, and the sky — impossibly wide and blue.
There is a lot of hiking closeby and the river beach is 20 minutes away. The Spanish border is also very close. Badajoz Airport 40 minutes and Lisbon airport 1,30minutes away. Evora Bus Station is 40 minutes away and is very accessible from most cities and is also a UNESCO site.
