We are Marcelo 👨🏽🌾 and Silvana 👩🏼🌾, a Portuguese-Swiss couple living near São Martinho de Anta, a small village in the heart of the Douro Valley in northern Portugal. Our farm, Quinta do Outeiro, is surrounded by beautiful landscapes, vineyards and mountains. 🌄
We moved here recently and are starting to create our own green oasis with different animals and surrounded by nature. So far we have two charming Border Collies 🐶, peacocks 🦚, chickens 🐔, goats 🐐, rabbits 🐰, fishes 🐟 and a lot more to come! We are blessed with a huge garden with all kind of fruits, nuts and vegetibles 🫐🍊🌰🥦🍅.
We spend our time developing our family farm, caring for our animals, producing fruit and homemade products, and creating a place where people can experience authentic rural life in Portugal 💚. In order to maintain and further build this paradise we are looking for help :)
We mostly will need your help in the morning, and then again later in the evening to water the garden and take care of the animals. Feeding the animals, cleaning the stables, harvesting fruits, cooking and baking, help with the construction of the next buildings (stables, Bungallows), farm maintenance, water plants, go for a walk with the dogs, mow the lawn, or do any kind of gardening stuff you like. The tasks vary throughout the year depending on the season and ongoing projects. No previous experience is required. We are happy to teach and work together 🙌🏻. What matters most is a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and enjoyment of rural life 🤗.
Volunteers stay in rooms in our beautiful stone house and become part of our daily life. We aim to create a friendly, welcoming, and family-oriented atmosphere where everyone feels comfortable and included 🫂

We usually have breakfast together and also share dinner in the evening. Lunch depends on the day’s activities; sometimes we cook at home, and other times we enjoy a meal at a traditional local restaurant. Whenever possible, we try to use products from our own farm (fruits, vegetibles, eggs, meat) and be as independent as possible.
The nearest village is São Martinho de Anta, located only 3 minutes away by car or about 18 minutes on foot. There you will find everything needed for daily life, including cafés, restaurants, a supermarket, pharmacy, ATM, and other essential services. The smaller city Sabrosa is 6 min by car and the large city Vila Real is 15 min by car where you can find everything. Porto airport is 1 h cardrive away ✈️
Our farm is located in one of the most beautiful regions of Portugal. The region is amazing for hiking or biking, or to do a wine tasting of the local wine in the Douro valley 🍷😉

We love mountainbiking, dancing, going for a walk, horseriding (stables in planing!). Basically we love any kind of sport.
We are not simply looking for workers; we are looking for people who would like to become part of our daily life and help to realise our exciting project.
