We had a very nice time at Afonso. Without any expectations, he gave us positive impressions of his project. He is a very pleasant and balanced person and always tries to impart as much of his knowledge as possible to his woofers and explain them patiently. He is also open to new ideas and exchange.p He gave us a nice home for a week and always made sure that we didn't lack anything. We cooked together and were also invited to eat with his family. It was always a very friendly and appreciative interaction. His plans and visions for his project are wonderful and definitely worth supporting in any way. If we can manage it, we would like to come back next year. Sehr zu empfehlen

Staying at Quinta das Cacadoras is a wonderful experience. Even when you feel alone, if you look around you, there's always some wonderful animal living its peaceful life. Claudia and Tiago are wonderful people with big hearts; it's important to appreciate the moments spent with them. I'm sorry I was there for a short time, but it was enough to create beautiful memories. I will always remember the birth of three sweet little lambs, of Aldo, of my bodyguard Gandhi, and of the entire team made up of so many different souls but living their best lives together. Thank you so much, much love, Letizia

I stayed at Agolada for 3 weeks. Antonio and the rest of the staff were kind and welcoming. They provided us with all we needed: delicious food, warm beds and linens, hot water and a nice place to chill around. I recommend to arrive by car if you wish to travel around, but even without it you can go out (there is a bus 3 times a day to the nearest town and the staff can give you a ride often).

What an amazing place with beautiful people! I’m truly grateful for the experience of staying at Stella and Gordon’s place for a month, where I not only learned a lot from the various tasks on the land and with the animals but also from the meditation, Tai Chi, yoga and conversations with all the nice people there. A place where you can find your own rhythm, have your own nice place to sleep, learn from the surrounding and connect if you want to with the various people around, and enjoy some beautiful nights under the stars after a hot sauna. Thanks a lot for the experience! Will definitely be back!

As my first WWOOFing and solo-travel experience, I couldn’t be happier with my three weeks spent alongside Adele and Vincent. From the very beginning, I was welcomed into the family and felt right at home. They always made sure I had enough to eat, never felt overworked, and was well taken care of throughout my stay. The work itself was very enjoyable, as I was given a nice variety of tasks during my time on the vineyard. From pruning to waxing/labeling bottles, to digging up unwanted plants, I never felt like I was doing the same thing for too long. A typical day would start with breakfast together, followed by 2–3 hours of independent work, a short break, and then another hour of work before a longer lunch break that we shared as a group. Afternoon work varied, but I usually had time to myself around 5–7pm before dinner with the whole family. I also had plenty of time to explore outside of working hours. The property is nearby Sintra’s city center, and Adele and Vincent were kind enough to offer me rides on multiple occasions. Being able to borrow one of their bikes was a huge plus, as it allowed me to visit the beach and explore more of the surrounding region. They were also very flexible with hours, making it easy to plan outings or personal time. Overall, I feel very fortunate to have had this experience with such kind and generous people. I highly recommend WWOOFing here, especially for anyone doing it for the first time.

We stayed two weeks at Casteleja with Guillaume in January because we wanted to get to know winemaking in Portugal. We lived in the cabin that is usually for 4 people and shared the kitchen, compost toilette and outdoor shower with the wonderful Odile, a long time volunteer at Casteleja (she stayed alone in the caravan that’s close to the shared facilities). The water for showering was hot and the cabin was heated so we had it nice and cozy. Sheets and towels were given to us and the kitchen was properly equipped. We helped Monday to Friday from 8 to 13 o’clock with the rest of the team in the vineyards and got pocket money for groceries from Guillaume, there were no shared meals. Non the less we organized nice dinners together with Guillaume and the team and went to the market together. Of course we brought working clothes with us but we didn’t expect it to be this wet and rainy. If you come to help in the winter months bring functional clothing and rubber boots. Guillaume was so kind to equip us with the things we did not have. We had a rented car and this was very helpful to go to the city for everything. But Guillaume has a bike which you can use and there are also buses to take. Monte Da Casteleja is a beautiful place and Guillaume a talented winemaker. We are very sad that we could only spent two weeks there and I think it makes a lot of sense to stay longer to really understand a place and be part of it. We hope to come back next year for pruning.

I had a great time at Quinta da Coruja. A lovely place with nice accommodation and surroundings, created by Shanti & Simon with the help of many Wwoofers before me. Together they/we made it that special place:-) My wish to relax by spending time (6 weeks) in Portugals’ nature and with animals came true. I helped taking care of the 12 lovely goats and really enjoyed walking them almost every morning. I worked a bit with the horse(s) in the round pen and took them back out to the fields afterwards, happy to see them waiting at the fence again next day. I worked on and finished some nice craftsman work like making a fence out of cane or cutting pine branches for firewood. I enjoyed the lunches we had together cooked by Shanti from the veggies and salad out of the garden & greenhouse, and I enjoyed the conversations during lunch or during the day. Pity that I couldn’t stay until the goat babies are born (soon), but I am planing on visiting again ;-)

Our stay at Quinta do Cavaco was truly memorable. From the moment we arrived, Graça welcomed us with warmth and genuine care. She is a wonderful host—kind, attentive, and thoughtful—always making sure we were comfortable and well fed. Her hospitality felt personal and heartfelt, creating an immediate sense of home. The land itself is absolutely magical. With waterfalls, ponds, caves, and natural springs, Quinta do Cavaco feels alive and deeply grounding. There’s a quiet, mystical energy that invites you to slow down and reconnect. At night, the sky is breathtaking, filled with stars so bright it feels like you could reach out and touch them. The accommodations are comfortable yet rustic, with an authentic Portuguese aesthetic that reflects the history of the land. The bed was very comfortable, and having access to a washing machine made longer stays easy. Even when Graça was away, she ensured there were adequate food options available. We loved being involved in daily life—caring for the animals, fixing fences, chopping wood, and helping with small household repairs. Quinta do Cavaco is more than a place to stay; it’s an experience. We left feeling nourished, rested, and grateful, and would happily recommend it to anyone seeking peace and connection in the Portuguese countryside.
