Hello, My name is Birgit. I am living on a smallholding 15km from Ourique, where I have been restoring the cottage but now the land needs serious attention, like hacking brumbles and pulling out „Matu“. This smallholding of 1,2 ha was left for 25 years before I got it. The house that stands on a 'monte',is now restored with a bore hole and a solar pump for water. The attention the land needs involves clearing around the olive trees and the cork oaks and creating and maintaining a self-sustaining vegetable garden (permaculture and biodynamic methods). I would appreciate a single strong vital, enthusiastic, young helper, female or male.( single, because the guestroom is rather small). In return you will receive nourishing and tasty natural meals and a comfortable and pleasant accommodation in a natural setting in which you can take long hikes and do bird-watching. There are other WWOOFers in the area. It‘s important for me that we also do something artistic each day, whether clay, painting, sketching, dancing, or meditating- each to their liking. During July and August it is very hot, up to 45degrees and garden work only happens between 6.30 and 10am and watering in the evenings. Organic methods: biodynamic gardening Certifications: ... Type of work:  for land clearing and weeding

For me it was so very inspiring to stay with Birgit and experience how she live life on her own terms and all the work that goes into making life work in this little rural cottage that is situated in relatively isolated setting. When not working the two of us shared many interesting conversations, which is something I very much appreciated. Thank you Birgit for opening up your home to me!

Thanks so much Christine, much appreciated! Wrote your review only today, hope it will still get published!!!! It was very nice and interesting with you. ( I went yesterday to a cork factory in the Algarve, near Alportel Bras. Very interesting place for tourist, I can recommend it!!!

I am very grateful for the time I spent with Birgit. I was able to learn a lot about being able to live simply, tending the garden in the rhythm of nature, giving things a second and third life, using the energies that are there and working with them (and much more). Birgit is a kind-hearted soul. The well-being of her guests is important to her. I had a lot of fun and left with a full heart! Thank you for the wonderful time, dear Birgit!

Staying with Birgit was so lovely. It was such a change of pace from busy city life, with days full of hard work but also lots of rests, free time, and good chats!

Birgits warm, open and tolerant nature makes it easy to immediately feel at home at the small farm. The work ist very varied and really fun. Birgit provides good, heathy food and a pleasant atmosphere. Special impulses for me were: biodynamic agriculture, especially the production of the various preparations; harvesting and processing local fruits; Yoga; creative moments with great material provided by Birgit; contacts with neighbors and their Wwoofers; trips to villages and the surronding area.

I stayed with Birgit on Dec 2023. it was a great two weeks of hard but enjoyable work around her lovely land. I learned a lot wit her help and guidance. Birgit is a a very fair host, and generally lets you get on with the work once she's explained what is to be done. great food and hospitality too!
