Treehouse cider project - rural
Portalegre
Coming from childhood dream, we are building an oasis for the next generation.
We look for collaborator with personal project! :)
We are a family with 2 children (9 and 12 years old), the project start in 2016.
Fred is french happy Carpenter trade :)
Using permaculture, we create a small garden, bees, food forest, treehouse, brewing etc...
To care Mother hearth and people, we create this refuge in a very privileges place to live in harmony with nature and especially children, where people can care people, eat well, learn and experimente art-craft (bioconstruction) and care the earth using simple agriculture.
Contact with wild nature, observing, drawing, cleaning and restoring the place to live with, is how we do it.
The land is 2,4 hectares south-east face on terraces, with 3 water mines working all the year. Big cork aok on the top, olive trees, figura, orange trees, pear tree, cherry tree and grapes...
Small but intensive!
There is dry compost tolet, shower and small workshop.
Now, we have electricity!!! And a wasmachine. We have a workshop in castelo de vide with pizzeria and kids workshop project . Every month we organise pizza party with live music.
Your accommodation will be tent, tipi or caravan and we will share the kitchen.
Is really basic but is fun!
Hope to meet you.

Quinta do Sol is a small oasis of sunshine. There are these wonderful green fig trees, brambles, the gardens around, these beautiful wooden houses, the yurts, a tipi, tents, a caravan, the lake lovely animals & people with sunny souls. When we built stone walls, we did hart physical work, but I really liked to learn how the people built over hundreds of years ago. After work, we jumped in the lake, in the afternoon we did yoga sessions with the collective, learned how to meditate, went to the village (Castelo de Vide), did game evenings, went to the river with everyone & watched the sunset on the rocks and in Mervão. At the beginning the communication has been a bit difficult, but after a few days we all got to know each other better and we grow together. I am really grateful for this amazing experience. I already miss the Quinta with its shining souls.

July 2024
I‘ve spent 3 weeks in June/July at Quinta do Sol and had a lovley time.
It was me, another volunteer and Fred, the owner. He got me from the busstation, and first I stayed in a tent, but then moved to the caravan to the other volunteer, cause there are 2 beds.
We usually worked in the morning and then someone cooked for all of us and we were eating together- sometimes also with Freds kids or the family that right now also lives here.
The tasks were quite different - the other volunteer helped a lot by changing the landscape for a new building with a lot of hard body work. I instead do love working in the garden , so Fred gave me a lot to do there: weeding, compost shifting, harvesting beans or oregano, planting tomatoes…but we also filled up his homemade beer all together, helped cleaning the airbnbs, peeling trees…and then of course the pizza partys: doing the dough, preparing the location, there working at the bar - that was a great fun!
We were only 2 volunteers, so Fred took us to a lot of adventures around with him and his kids - just as a big family: we went together to a singing circle, climbed the mountain to see the sunset, went to Castelo de Vide, to Marvao, to the River and the lake…
Most of the evenings we were also eating together, speaking about life in portugal, life in general, meditation and dreams…
But i also had a lot of time for myself in the hammock or taking a swim in the beautiful lake :)
All in all a wonderful experience!
