The "Casa do Sapateiro" is a small project, which aims to associate the organic production of vegetables and animals with the activity of tourism and community work.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR A LONG TERM VOLUNTARY ( from April 2026) we continue to host other Wwoofers.
We have a officially certified organic vegetable production project.
We need of help, we can have 1 or 2 volunteers in same time, if you have a van is a plus!! if not we offer a private room in the main house.
This year I'm working outside the region, and I'm only on Thursday from Friday night to Tuesday, so it's very important to find a volunteer who can stay for at least three months or until the end of the school year. On the days I'm away, I have someone who cares for the animals and takes care of the land, and who will be responsible for overseeing the work during those days. Unfortunately, she only speaks Portuguese.
As for me, I am an engineer of natural resources and environment, and I am teacher of rural tourism and geography.
Our project is in the beginning, and there is much to do ... Our farm is in the middle of the mountains in a small village with only 8 inhabitants,
The daily work will be divided between agriculture, animals, construction and village community work.
Anyone with construction knowledge is welcome, we have walls and houses to rebuild.
I work sometimes as Vegeterian Chef, in events.

READ WITH ATTENTION
We always answer to your requests, so we demand that you do the same. If you are not sure if you want to volunteer at the CASA SO SAPATEIRO or if you have made several requests to other farms and decided to go to another farm, you must send an email to inform.
After some problems with wwoofers (fortunately a small part, but still embarrassing) I leave three rules for those who want to come wwoofing on my farm:
1ºThe diversity of cultures, opinions, and ways of life are enriching for everyone, but when you come to volunteer, you must come prepared to have an experience different from your daily life. Don't want to impose your ideas/beliefs!!
2º The food is based on the Mediterranean diet, the traditional diet of this region, and there may be a vegetarian diet. We are not an a la carte restaurant. If you have a lot of diet restrictions or innovative regimes full of demands, don't come!! Working in the field requires energy and good disposition.
3rd Let's share weeks, or months in the same space, so I want to know a little more about who I'm going to host when you make your request for hosting, send me your contact / social networks. Wwoof Site profiles are often stripped of essential information. If I open the door of my house, I like to know who I receive.
