We have a small lemon farm and have some animals and big gardens. At the moment there are 3 families co-living on the farm. 2 families with children living in the co-living house and another community house is shared among guests and other volunteers (with no children). We run a forest home-school group and do project work. This project mainly works from Tuesdays to Fridays with around 50 children performing diverse activities on the land. During that time 7 teachers and 4 parents are present on the day to help and guide the kids in their project -based- activities. Gardening (winter and summer garden) Looking after children (activities and project work) Caring and maintenance of animals (goats, sheep, pigs, chicken, guinea pigs, rabbits, horses). Construction (natural materials) Catering for guests If they wish, people can join in the morning routines, such as meditation and yoga, then have a communal breakfast in the community house, Option 1: at 09.00 start their day with the chosen activities listed, until 13.00 when there is a ready cooked communal lunch. Afternoons are free. They can join in the karate or yoga program at 17.00. Option 2: start at 14.00 with their chosen activities and therefore have the mornings free. Home-school Support project runs from 09.00 to 16.00 from Tuesdays to Fridays. Weekends: are free, but the catering is not provided (everyone cooks their own food) Children are welcome, although only if there is space in the co-living house. Due to our water shortage we can only accept people to help over the academic year, so during school holidays we are closed.

What an amazing place with beautiful people! I’m truly grateful for the experience of staying at Stella and Gordon’s place for a month, where I not only learned a lot from the various tasks on the land and with the animals but also from the meditation, Tai Chi, yoga and conversations with all the nice people there. A place where you can find your own rhythm, have your own nice place to sleep, learn from the surrounding and connect if you want to with the various people around, and enjoy some beautiful nights under the stars after a hot sauna. Thanks a lot for the experience! Will definitely be back!

My time wwoofing with Stella was overall very positive, and I am thankful to her for the stay. The land is beautiful and there is lots of company between other wwoofers and permanent residents. When I became sick for a week, Stella allowed me the day off of work. I believe this shows that she cares for her wwoofers as people before farm workers, which is greatly appreciate. A few things I wish I had known before starting: (1) the farm can be hard to find. If you are coming by foot as I was, I would highly recommend arriving hours before nightfall and confirming the exact coordinates prior to arriving. I gave myself about an hour and a half to find the place before it got dark, which did not turn out to be enough. After some difficulty, Stella kindly picked me up. (2) There is a very small town about 1.3 hours walk from the farm (Marmelete) and a larger town about 3.5 hours walk (Monchique). It may be best load up on necessities before you arrive. In my experience, I found that there is very little food available during the weekend/the days off. I also had trouble getting medicine when needed. Overall, I had a bit of trouble getting to know Stella (likely due to becoming sick early on and how busy she is with the school children) but it was still a very nice experience. Would recommend.

We had a lovely time at Inner Peace Retreat. Great to go to with kids, as there is a forest school 4 days a week. Stella was so welcoming and always available for any questions we had. The location was amazing, doable without a car (there is a bus during weekdays to bring you to nearby villages or bigger towns). We worked on feeding the horses, cleaning up the school's main places, tinkering here and there and fun forest school activities. There are yoga classes you can join and sauna sessions as well, everyone was really nice! Highly recommend
