I have a property with a plot of land just outside Lisbon. (Near the station of Vila Franca de Xira). Here I grow fruit and vegetables and live in harmony with nature. The projects are many and the land is big enough to keep us busy all year round. My three dogs live with me, and the property is also home to volunteers and permanent residents who lead independent lives. From time to time other visitors come to stay, looking to live close to nature. There is a lot to do here. From taking care of the trees, pruning, picking, gardening and general upkeep of the land, to a few other projects. We provide 3 vegetarian meals a day. Generally we take turns cooking. Accommodation is either in a mixed dormitory or outside in tents, depending on availability and weather. You are welcome to join my yoga and meditation practice. Some volunteers like to get up early and start their day with a practice before breakfast. After breakfast we get to work - usually before the sun gets too strong (especially on very hot summer days). We cook lunch and usually enjoy the meal together. After lunch, we like to rest for an hour before getting back to work. We require 5 hours work per day in exchange for the 3 meals/day and accommodation. Saturdays and Sundays are free. We only accept volunteers who are willing to stay on the property for at least three weeks. Volunteers must bring all personal hygiene products. Meditation practice takes place twice a day: once in the morning and once in the evening. The morning practice is mandatory. We hope that you will feel inspired and energized to come and join us. I do yoga and meditation. I walk my dogs and live a very simple life in nature.

I can only but agree with Melissa, Mathias and Simona who were my co-WWOOFERS for some weeks. I am very glad to have made my very first WWOOF experience at O Lugar do Arjuna. I also had the “honor” of being the last WWOOFER of the year 2025 before the winter closing. I enjoyed those last November days although the chilly weather, cold nights and rainy days were not easy since it was not possible to work outside. However, Arjuna managed to keep us occupied when we had to stay inside most of the day. O Lugar do Arjuna was my very first WWOOF experience, and I couldn’t have wished for a better place. The regular working hours helped me to find me a day structure. Likewise, the regular meal hours were always something to look forward to. Especially, since our host prepared breakfast, lunch and dinner for us on most days. This was not only a treat because of Arjuna’s fantastic cooking, but also because it is by far self-evident that a host cooks for his WWOOFERS. I am ever so glad to have made the experience of working outside (most of the time), of hard work (sometimes), of spending time in the vegetable garden and picking olives. I believe that it was over all the daily meditation and yoga that kept me going through the days. Can you wish for more than a host that gives you meaningful work to do, prepares delicious meals, meditates and does yoga together with you? I sincerely think that Arjuna should be nominated as the host of the year!

I am very happy that I can call Arjuna's farm my first Wwoofer experience. I was able to learn a lot here, whether in the garden, during yoga or for life. Arjuna is an extremely inspiring person, but can also convince with humor. He always speaks to us at eye level and makes sure that everyone feels comfortable. In addition, the working hours are more than fair and the vegetarian meals extremely delicious. I would recommend this place to everyone.

It was a truly enriching experience. I learned a lot, not only about how to care for the earth, but also about life in general. I really enjoyed the morning yoga and meditation sessions. The food was incredible and made me want to become a vegetarian. If I have the opportunity, I will definitely return. Thank you for everything, Arjuna.

I have only good words to describe O Lugar de Arjuna. The place itself is warm and welcoming, and requires a lot of demanding but rewarding work. The work, together with the yoga, was a great way for me to put my energy to use. I really appreciated getting lost in the chaos of the farm, the ever-growing bramble, the cooking frenzies, the early morning meditation session along the howling dogs. I found it to be a great testament to the hard but beautiful life of the farm. Most of all, I want to thank you Arjuna for your honesty and kindness. Your presence makes the experience in the farm something truly special.

I spent 5 weeks at Arjuna's place. The place is stunning and very peaceful, on top of a hill it's surrounded by trees with a beautiful view over the river and the little city. The work is hard but Arjuna tries to make it as easy as possible for you and rewards you with its abundant and delicious vegetarian food. Unfortunately I was there alone but Arjuna really went out of his way to make me enjoy my time and this reflects his generous spirit. I'm glad to have chosen this place for my wwoof experience and to have met Arjuna. I would take this decision again.

My time at Arjuna’s was filled with ups and downs. None of the downs were the hosts fault. It happened through unforeseen circumstances. Like being the only woofer cause the rest left early. If you are interested in wwoofing then please understand that you are working on a farm, you are eating food that you aren’t used too, you are in conditions that you aren’t used too, so you need to adapt. If you can’t adapt to drastic change then reconsider this opportunity. I didn’t come here for a nice vacation I came to grow and learn. To experience something raw and different. I learnt so much. The one caveat I would say is this is not a full production farm, he doesn’t sell food. So if you are looking for traditional farming I would look elsewhere. But overall I enjoyed the experience and if time allowed I’d come back
