A hidden piece of paradise in the Wild West of Portugal

SPECIAL PROJECT:
Calling in people who want to help build a future rooted in nature.
At No Meio Do Nada, we are creating a place to slow down, reconnect and build something meaningful together.
A place where people and nature support each other, where learning happens through doing, and where simple living becomes a source of richness.
We are looking for people who would like to spend 2 to 3 months living and working on the land, helping us lay the foundations for a long-term, regenerative place.
This is not about perfection or hard productivity it is about presence, commitment and shared intention.
🌱 What we are creating together
An abundant vegetable garden, grown with care for the soil and local ecosystem
A natural spring and water system, where water can be stored, shared and used to nourish the land
A garden kitchen, where we process, preserve and prepare food directly from the land
Communal spaces where learning, rest and connection can naturally take place
Everything we build is meant to serve both people and the landscape, now and in the future.
🤲 What you will receive
Accommodation and nourishing meals in exchange for your help
Guidance and hands-on learning in regenerative living, gardening and land-based projects
Masterclasses and shared knowledge from local specialists and people working with the land
A communal living experience based on respect, simplicity and collaboration
Space to slow down, reflect and reconnect with yourself, others and nature
You will learn while working, and work while learning.
🌍 Who we are looking for
We are looking for people who:
Feel drawn to living close to nature
Are willing to contribute with care and responsibility
Can commit to 2–3 months starting May 2026
Are open to communal living and shared rhythms
Want to be part of something that is still growing and unfolding
Our intention is to form a small, aligned community with a shared goal:
to learn, inspire, grow and carry this way of living forward.
If this resonates with you, we would love to hear from you.
Tell us who you are, what draws you to this place, and what you feel you can bring.

Somewhere in the hills of the Wild West of Portugal, hidden away between cork trees there is a piece of land that is ready to be taken care of. To be build up into an oasis you can only dream about. Our 20 hectare land located between valley's and hills is one of a kind. Breathtaking views, a lake to cool you down and donkey's to keep you company, what's not to love?
I am Sarah, 28, and live with my two dogs on a rural plot of land in the Alentejo. We have 10 cuddly donkeyss, ducks, chickens and a goose. We are developing the property into a little piece of paradise. Unfortunately, the terrain has been neglected and not properly taken care of. We are here to help her flourish and grow into a healthy natural environment.
I work with permaculture principles. Reclaiming the soil and making the earth healthy again. I love to share knowledge and learn and grow from each other. I also work with medicinal herbs, and am creating a tree nursery to help our forest or cork trees.
The work is very diverse, every day is different. Construction, maintenance, irrigation, taking care of trees, creating a healthy soil. One day could be filled with solving water problems while the other is making a structure, taking care of the trees or carrying a lot of stones around.
We have a glamping area to make your stay comfortabel. There is a shower (cold), compost toilet and outdoor kitchen. This all is only for the volunteers. If you have your own tent or van you are also more then welcome to pitch or park.
We offer fresh and delicious food from our own garden and more. Lunch we will eat together, and we'll see how the rest flows.
The property has lots to offer, beautiful views, donkeys to cuddle, trails to explore. It's a gem in the middle of nowhere. Besides that, amazing beaches are a small ride away. There is good surf and beautiful hikes on the cliffs. A lot of opportunities to go on adventures!
In our free time we like to go out on adventures with friends. Camping, surfing, motorcross, hiking, surf skate or just laying on the beach. We are flexible and easygoing and looking for people who like to make their hand dirty and are in for some fun.
The land is pretty remote, I highly recommend to have your own way of transport if you want to have some freedom or time away.

A beautiful place and Wwoofing experience I would definitely recommend :)
In the beginning of October I spend 10 days at Sarah's land for volunteering. It's an idyllic piece of land with stunning views, especially during sunrise or sunset. Sarah has a very sweet spot to live where she makes you feel like home. The volunteering camp is super nice and comfy. We had our own breakfasts to start the day in your own space, then we shared a coffee, and started doing all kinds of work with a nice fresh lunch together in between. Sarah taught me a lot about planting, trees, but also her way of life inspired me! After the work, it was amazing to dive into the lake. Besides that, there was enough time to spend walking with the dogs, cuddling with the donkeys, and Sarah also took us to the beach, village and her friends.
I really enjoyed my time at No Meio do Nada. Sarah is a very sweet, brave and happy person, it was great to help her on this beautiful piece of land!

Highly recommend! We have stayed at the beautiful No meio do nada for 2 weeks and had an amazing time with sarah, the animals and the other volunteers. Sarah is a sweetheart with a lot of knowledge about the land and always in for a fun time. The work can be tough, but we were happy to make a difference :)

I spent 10 days at the farm. Sarah is a sweetheart, she cares about people around her, she directly made me feel comfortable there. It's very impressive she learned how to manage the land by herself, she works hard and knows a lot. She's patient and happy to share her skills, it's a great learning opportunity to work with Sarah!
I had the chance to meet the landlord who also made me feel welcome at the farm. He is a nice guy, a hard worker, funny and very interesting.
They have a place for the woofers with a big tent, a kitchen, a toilet and a shower. I found it super cozy, and I felt like at home. The land is huge and beautiful, with lots of animals everywhere, I had a nice time walking around. They also have a big lake, where I used to swim everyday.
The tasks varied, I did manual work, painting, gardening, organising,... The amount of work was reasonable, and nice to do. In brief, I completely recommend it, I'm very happy I had my first woofing experience with them.

If you love nature and can do without luxury, you should definitely go to the lovely Sarah on the mountain. The view and, above all, Sarah's hospitality made this stay an unforgettable experience. I look forward to seeing you again soon. I wish you all the best.
