Hello my name is Antonio.I operate and live on a forest farm that cultivates cork trees and pine trees for the production of pine nuts. Our forest is certified organic farm .We have 2 full time employees that live on site plus 3 others that live in the nearby town of Coruche. We have one horse and one dog. We work 4hours a day 6 days a week or 5 hours a day 5 days a week depending on wwoofers preference and work schedule.Activities include planting trees in the forest, pruning young trees, grafting young pine trees, working in our orchard, and in our garden. We work mornings, have lunch and take off the rest of the day. There is wi-fi in the volunteer's house. We supply all the food and cook 2 full meals. WWOOFers prepare their own breakfast. We eat lunch together with our staff in the common dining room. Please note that during summer months we do not do any forest work due to high temperatures, with the exception of a cork harvest year. Cork is harvested usually during part of June, July and part of August.Planting and pruning of trees takes place in the fall, winter and spring.During summer months we work in our orchard and also in the nearby grounds, dooing maintenance of the drip irrigation system, weeding, pruning etc. I enjoy playing football, and playing music .We have 2 lakes we use for swimming and a yoga platform. The forest offers great trails for jogging and hiking. Coruche, the nearby town has all the amenities like supermarkets, restaurants, a health clinic, several doctors offices and dentists as well as banks ant atms.It is right on a beautifull river. The old part of Coruche has character and is worth a visit.Santarem, the nearest city is 30 minutes away and you can reach it by bus as we have a bus stop right at our driveway entrance. There are several buses a day from Lisbon to Coruche.I will give you exact detailed instructions on how to get here.Once in Coruche let us know and we will pick you up if not extremely busy. There are taxis that you can take if needed. We are only 5 minutes away from Coruche. Volunteering is a wonderfull concept. We want volunteers to have a memorable experience. For a lot people is their first voluntering experience so we ease them into the tasks and give them some time to adjust. We know that comunication and mutual respect between host staff and volunteers is the key to success so we make it easy for volunteers to voice their concerns at all times. We like to think of ourselves as open minded and flexible.Volunteers if they wish, can leave anytime without notice and with no questions asked on our part .The same thing works for hosts. This freedom is crucial so that volunteers and host never feel stuck or obliged to justify departures. We encourage socializing between volunteers, staff and ourselves as hosts.

My stay at Antonio's was amazing, he was very nice and especially the food was really good. The property itself is beautiful and the people I met there were all wonderful. I can recommend coming to Antonio's to anybody, as everything is very chill and you don't feel pressured to stay or do anything you don't want to.

We really enjoyed our time at Antonio’s Farm. The work was fine, the food was fantastic, and the volunteers had their own little house, which made us feel right at home. The farm is well-organized, and the balance between work and free time was perfect. We got to spent time with other volunteers and workers, and developed friendships.

I stayed at Agolada for 3 weeks. Antonio and the rest of the staff were kind and welcoming. They provided us with all we needed: delicious food, warm beds and linens, hot water and a nice place to chill around. I recommend to arrive by car if you wish to travel around, but even without it you can go out (there is a bus 3 times a day to the nearest town and the staff can give you a ride often).

Property owned by António and Branca — truly a lovely place. I had the chance to share my experience with several people, as the volunteer house is quite spacious. The work was very diverse and depended a lot on the weather. A big thank you to António and his staff, who are amazing every single day and make sure we can enjoy our experience in the best way possible.

I spent 3 wonderful weeks at Agolada, a property that grows pine trees but also hosts weddings, baptisms and children's camps during the summer.... The setting is magnificent, full of small yellow and white houses steeped in history and surrounded by lakes accessible by pretty paths. There's everything you need: hammocks, a swimming pool, a beautiful horse and a dog! The woofers have their own house and kitchen; I had my own room, which was very comfortable. A real plus was the fact that most of the time, one of the staff cooked for everyone, which is not the case in all woofings. The hosts and staff were often too busy to eat and chat with us, which is understandable, so I'd advise you to ask if there will be other woofers, as that's what made my experience great! In terms of work, in June and July we didn't do any pine cultivation, the aim was to get the house back in shape to host weddings: removing dead leaves, cleaning up rooms, removing weeds... etc. I'd advise you to find out exactly what you're going to be doing, to make sure it's right for you. If you come by car, it's ideal to be free, as the first town, Coruche, is not accessible on foot and there are few cabs, but the staff members are happy to take you there when they go. All in all, I spent 3 very pleasant weeks, thank you very much :)
