Projet holistique de vie avec production de légumes et fruits sans utilisation de produits chimiques
Faro
We are a family of 5, myself (French), my partner (italian) our baby boy and our dog and cat leaving on 3 ha of land close to Aljezur. After many years living in several countries for work, and also travelling and doing wwoofing in lots of places (France, US, New Zealand, Portugal), we wanted to have our own holistic project in the south of Portugal.
As the name of the project, it is a journey, a long one with a bumpy road!
Before anything, it is important to know that we live quite alternatively (everything is relative, but for some people we live really alternatively), so we expect from woofers a minimum of ecological conciousness and interest in alternative way of life. Our own place is quite small and you will sleep in a wood cabin the forest. Do not expect to be able to take 2 showers a day (we have to be really careful with water), or to use random cosmetics here, or for instance eating mainstream industrial food. We are also not a commercial entity and for us, having woofers is before all a social experience with also brings help. This means that we are willing to share our time with people having a minimum of common interest. Given that we have a small toddler, we need people with a minimum of pro-activeness (and for these reasons and I am really sorry, but we tend to not take really young people).
We already have many things in place on the terrain and would like to have more. The land extents on 3 ha with different "ecosystems": a kind fo flat part where we have little trees growing, a greenhouse (not totally finished) and an orchard of a mix of fruit and nut trees (more or less 60 trees), a forest part with a small river, and then a more mediterranean bushes part that we don't do anything with for now.
We would love to have some nice sharing and energy from woofers coming to help us occasionally in this project. We have been wwoofers and been really lucky in general and we would love to exchange, being host now, and having a nice and fair exchange. Since we have been living in different countries, we speak good English, French, Italian, portuguese and a bit of spanish. For us, having wwoofer is a philosophy of exchange. Woofers must speak english.
Otherwise, we are calm, responsible and positive people (just sometimes a little bit tired because we have a super energetic toddler!).We like to share our view of the world, experiences, science, and to speak about permaculture/agroecology.
We can do a lot of different tasks: taking care of the veggie garden, maintenance work on fences, wood construction, etc... helping to finish mounting the greenhouse, finish to construct an enclosure for the future chicken to come, etc... We can work 4/5 hours a day when it is not too hot, and you have free time the rest of the time. In summer, you can join us to go to the beach, to go to town in Aljezur, or else... In summer, we need people which are interested in wood work and also creative for the woofing part (making an ecological shower, restoring the dry toilets for the woofers, etc...).
You will stay in a wood cabin which is located inside a small forest where there is a real bed and a furniture to put your personal items. It is rustic but really nature friendly ;) There is electricity in the cabin. You also have a table and chairs just for your space outside of the cabin. The cabin is 1 min walking from our space, where you can take warm showers. There are dry toilets just for the wwoofing area but it needs a bit of cleaning/cutting grass at the moment (a job for starting the wwoofing time ;)).
You will be independant for breakfast (we will give you what you need of course), and we will have common lunch and will share some dinners depending on the lenghts of stay, etc....
The place is 10 min drive from some beaches, there are lot of walks that can be done around as well. We start to go back to beach volley once a week where you are welcome to join if you feel like :)

We spent about a week with Anaïs and Giac, and words really cannot describe our time there. They are really open, kind people who shared their knowledge, life experiences, and hospitality with us. We truly learned so much during our time with them about their land and their project, which will inform our own lives going forward. It was our first WWOOFing experience and certainly one that we will remember forever! Thank you so much Anaïs, Giac, and family :)

For about a week I became part of this wonderful family and I hope to spend more time with them in the future. The farmlife is simple but filled with love and sun. We planted trees, did some weeding and got the greenhouse ready to grow lots of veggies. The region is a beautiful place to hike, go to the beach and explore the markets of the lokal farmers.
Thank you Anaïs, for all the good talks and laughs you shared with me! Sending lots of love<3

Anaïs is such a warmhearted and helpful person. My time on the farm with the whole family and all the animals was absolutely amazing. From the very first day, I felt completely welcome, and we shared so many lovely conversations.
The accommodation is exactly as described — simple, cozy, and surrounded by trees. Just the peaceful spot I was looking for. Workdays and hours were easy to coordinate, and I was able to contribute while learning a lot along the way. Being part of the daily life on the farm was really enjoyable.
Their toddler is just the sweetest, full of joy and curiosity. Spending time with him was heartwarming and made the stay even more special.
It was a truly unforgettable experience, and I will definitely come back.
Thank you all for the wonderful time — you’re doing an amazing job! ☀️✌🏼
