Ola Ola!
My friends call me Ji (real name is too complicated to pronounce for most people), I am 38, originally from France and I live in a beautiful forest close to both the South and West coast of the Algarve. Step by step, I am building this little paradise with the ultimate goal to become as much self-sufficient as possible but also invite the local community for different events and gatherings. As for now, I try to regularly organise movie screenings in the forest outdoor cinema.
I am very often working on the forest maintenance as, sadly, quite a few trees (pine) are infested/sick and need to be cut in order to prevent the "plague" to spread more. On a daily basis, I am also taking care of my little (for now) organic vegetable garden. I'm planning to plant quite a lot of fruit trees this autumn. And of course so many more projects like collecting rain water, fixing the green house dome, building a new outdoor shower, ...
I would expect 4 hours of help, 4 days a week. As quite a few wild species live and roam on the land, I cannot accept wwoofers with pets. Due to high risk of fire (being in a forest), there is a strict no smoking policy.
In terms of accomodation, the cutest A-frame cabin is waiting for you! With a lovely view on the valley, it has a single bed, its own electricity, light, a fan, a gas heater, a tiny fridge and a small dedicated corner to cook your meals (with a gas stove). I will provide the necessary groceries but of course we could cook together if you feel like it. On the land, there is also a pergola/platform with sea view which you can be used as a yoga deck or for sunset "apero".
The shower having some delays to be fully operational, I will also cover the cost for a daily hot shower in a nearby camping.
One of my favourite thing to do is to go watch the sunset on the cliffs, often joined by a friend or two. As you could have guessed, I am also a lot into watching movies and I am known among my friends as the expert to contact for a movie recommendation. On clear nights, I like to take the telescope out to watch the Moon's craters or catch the rings of Saturn. I play football once to twice a week and I try to go surfing as much as possible when the weather and the conditions are right. It's about a 15min drive to many different surf spots. On very hot days, I love to go for a dip in the nearby "secret" lake.
I'm also very sociable and try to attend to most events in the area. Concerts, skate gatherings and even drawing workshops where you'll be very welcome to join me.
