Permaculture project and private nature reserve in Alentejo, Portugal

We are a french/american family with great interest in Nature : natural healing and cooking, birds, permaculture, etc. Our Monte is located in Serpa county in Baixo Alentejo. The area is absolutely beautiful, and located less than an hour from the Alqueva dam and the Guadiana park. Our land is 7 hectares, with a pond and dotted with many oak trees and olive trees. The property is a heaven for wildlife. We have seen more than 130 bird species. We have 4 dogs and a nice flock of hens. We created a permaculture veggie garden, an orchard, and we are looking for someone to help us steward our little corner of paradise. As for any homesteader living in the countryswide, our our list of things to do, ideas and projects is endless :D Depending on your skills and wishes, but also on the season, you could help us : - watering our veggie garden and orchard - build more swales - plant more trees - improve our chicken coop - set up fences - create paths - prune our olive trees - harvest olives - trim brambles - etc etc We also offer paid position for people with skills and experience regarding : - building compost toilet - renovating our caravan Help with chores like cooking or cleaning the dishes is appreciated but not compulsory. If you do not come with your own van or tent, you can stay in our house. We have a guest room. We usually enjoy all meals together but you are welcome to be more independent for breakfast and lunch if you want. Near our land, there are great places to visit and nice areas to explore, like the Guadiana river, the Guadiana Natural Park, the Alqueva Lake, etc.

Jonathan en zijn gezin zijn fantastische mensen, het was een warm ontvangst en een week gevuld met fijne gesprekken, leuke momenten, lekker eten en de beste zorgen! Ik voelde me super welkom en heb een heel leuke tijd gehad. Het werk was gevarieerd en ik kreeg telkens een duidelijke uitleg, kon altijd vragen stellen en heb veel bijgeleerd. Het was fantastisch !!
